Windfola was the grey horse of Éowyn during the War of the Ring.
Éowyn (in the guise of Dernhelm) and Merry were carried by Windfola from Dunharrow to the Pelennor Fields. Windfola was among the charge of the Rohirrim during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, but fled in terror when the Witch-king of Angmar came upon them.
In Old English, the name Windfola means "wind-foal".
Portrayal in adaptationsEdit
The Lord of the Rings film trilogyEdit
In Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Éowyn rides a bay horse during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields, instead of a grey horse. It is presumed to be killed after the battle.
