Warren Mahy

Warren Mahy is a fantasy artist born in New Zealand, who around 1999 joined Weta Workshop to work on Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, along with his friend Ben Wootten.

He and Wootten served as concept designers, and Mahy's concept sketches of Shelob, Orc armor, the corpses in the Dead Marshes, Grond, and Haradrim warriors are featured, alongside his commentary, in Gary Russell's The Art of The Two Towers (2002) and The Art of The Return of the King (2003). Wootten and Daniel Falconer sketched what became many of the final appearances of Rohirrim armor and weaponry in the films.[1]

As an artist, Mahy also contributes to the card-game Magic: The Gathering.
