Vëannë (named Melinir by Eriol) was a child who resided at the Cottage of Lost Play in Tol Eressëa.[1]

The Tale of Tinúviel, the earliest version of the story of Beren and Lúthien, was once narrated by Vëannë at the cottage, on the same night that Littleheart afterwards told the tale of the Fall of Gondolin.[2]

Behind the scenesEdit

She appears in J.R.R. Tolkien's early stories of Eriol in The Book of Lost Tales. She also is reintroduced into the 'complete tale' of Beren and Lúthien, again as the teller of The Tale of Tinúviel.[3]
