Tol Brandir or Tindrock was an unclimbable island - unclimable because of the sheer rock face which rose from the water at the base of the mountain - with a huge pinnacle in the centre of the long lake called Nen Hithoel. Trees grew on an area of the island, before above it was more inaccessible rock; the mountain itself was capped at by a great stone spire. It stood between the hills of Amon Hen and Amon Lhaw and looked over the Falls of Rauros.

It is stated that no-one, man nor elf nor dwarf had ever set foot upon this island.
