Thráin I, also known as Thráin the Old, was the son of Náin I and King of Durin's Folk and the first King under the Mountain.

Biography

When his father was slain by the Balrog as his grandfather Durin VI had been killed before, Thráin I fled Khazad-dûm together with the remainder of Durin's Folk during which he and succeeded his father as King of Durin's Folk. They migrated to Lonely Mountain, which he founded in TA 1999. He was succeeded as King by Thorin I.[1]
