The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is an upcoming film, the second part of The Hobbit movie series. It is scheduled for release on December 13, 2013. The Hobbit: The Battle Of The Five Armies was one of the two earlier proposed titles for this film. The story will revolve on the dragon Smaug who guards the treasure in Erebor that Bilbo Baggins and his dwarf companions are in search of. The film will follow the quest through Mirkwood, Lake-town, and into Smaug's Lair.
