Théoden's Battle Cry is spoken by the King of Rohan Théoden before the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. After the recital of the battle cry, Théoden blew on the horns of Rohan.[1]
Arise, arise, Riders of Théoden!
Fell deeds awake, fire and slaughter!
spear shall be shaken, shield be splintered,
a sword-day, a red day, ere the sun rises!
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!
After blowing the horn, Théoden adds:
Ride now, ride now! Ride to Gondor!
Portrayal in adaptations
Lord of the Rings film trilogy
In Peter Jackson's The Return of the King (film), King Théoden recites the battle cry from Tolkien's book, except that the last lines are replaced by: "Ride now!... Ride now!... Ride! Ride to ruin and the world's ending!" and "Forth, Eorlingas!"
