I don't know this community at all well, but I'm curious to know what your criteria are for inclusion of information. (Is there a clear statement anywhere?) I ask because the vast majority of the "History" section of this page is more or less fanfic (reasonably plausible fanfic, but not more than that). There's nothing wrong with that in principle, but I was surprised to see it presented seriously in a reasonably formal encyclopedia about Tolkien. (Do you have an official way to decide which fanfic ideas get included?) --SJ

Fan theories and opinions should be relegated to the "Talk" pages, IMO, as in Wikipedia they strictly are.  Many pages here need to be cleaned up in that respect. - Gradivus, 18:38, December 18, 2012 (UTC)

At the end of The Hobbit it says that Orcrist was put on Thorin's tomb and glowed when enemies drew near, so the area could not be taken by surprise. So Orcrist definitely did glow like other Elvish swords.
