The One Wiki to Rule Them All

I think this article has too much of a videogamely approach to it. Ungoliant never served as an 'officer' for Morgoth. Neither did Carcharoth, Draugluin and Thuringwethil. They don't necessarily need to be inserted into a chain of command of sorts, that's not how the band played. Those without power followed those with power, not really much trick to it.

I added a few things that were missing. Men also fought for Morgoth and Sauron, during all three ages, so I kicked in their names as well.

First Age spellings[]

Are Serpents and Phantoms, under the First Age, spelled right by Tolkien's lore? An unregistered contributor changed them from proper English spellings, and I have the strange feeling that the contributor is wrong. Zeta1127 of the 89th Legion (talk) 07:41, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

Rewriting the article[]

Well, I believe that this article needs to be fixed a bit. The only villains explicitly referred to as being a "Dark Power" were Melkor and Sauron. If we were to list other villains as Dark Powers, we should consider selecting only villains that are close in stature to those two. And by that, I mean other malevolent Ainur of great power, such as Ungoliant, Saruman, and the Balrogs. Dragons and evil Men don't exactly make the cut for being as powerful as any of the villains mentioned above.

Also, if we are to divide these villains into "tiers", I think that Ungoliant should be on par with Sauron, since she becomes powerful enough to engage Melkor in battle, and nearly win. If anything, she should certainly be in a higher tier than Gothmog.

Someone really needs to get rid of all this stuff on the article. Melkor/Morgoth and Sauron are the only Dark Powers, not any of these other villains. Jykale (talk) 18:35, July 11, 2016 (UTC)

Delete the article.[]

There's really no reason for this article to be here. It's a hideous misrepresentation of what the "Dark Powers" really are. Melkor and Sauron are the only Dark Powers. Period. Jykale (talk) 03:00, July 13, 2016 (UTC)
