The Song in the Woods is sung by Frodo Baggins as he, Meriadoc Brandybuck, Peregrin Took, and Sam Gamgee are making their way through the Old Forest on the edge of the Shire. The trees of the Old Forest didn't seem to like the song.[1]

The SongEdit

O! Wanderers in the shadowed land
despair not! For though dark they stand,
all woods there be must end at last,
and see the open sun go past:
the setting sun, the rising sun,
the day's end, or the day begun.
For east or west all woods must fail...[note 1]

  1. Frodo's voice fades out at this point, leaving the song incomplete.
