Shaknar was an Orc in service of Sauron during the Third Age.

He was in charge of an Orc band to find the Ring of Barahir and bring it to Sauron, one day his Orcs bring a lot of rings to the boss, Shaknar threw all the rings out of the cave because he knew that none of these rings were the Ring of Barahir, one of his henchmen said that was impossible to find the ring, he stabbed the henchman and the Orc fell dead, he ordered the others to find the ring. His henchmen soon were killed by Arathorn who arrived at the cave but Shaknar was already out of the cave.

After he along with Gorganog attacked the village of the Dúnedain, causing the Battle of Taurdal, the band was forced to retreat and Arathorn pursued the band, killing many Orcs but Shaknar shot two arrows in Arathorn's body and Arathorn fell in the ground, Shaknar was to steal Arathorn's ring and said that the line of the kings was over and Arathorn replies by saying that the line of kings is not over and stabs Shaknar's chest and the Orc screams of pain and angry he stabs Arathorn's eye and soon he succumbed to his wounds and died.[1]
