Previous work with Peter Jackson and acting careerEdit
McLeod worked with New Zealand director, Peter Jackson, before she landed a role in The Fellowship of the Ring. In 1995, McLeod starred in a mockumentary with Peter Jackson titled, Forgotten Silver where she played May Belle. Peter Jackson directed and starred in this film with Costa Botes as co-director and co-star.
The film met with critical acclaim with Jackson's stardom being lifted once again since the release of his films Heavenly Creatures (1994) and Braindead (1992). After the release of Forgotten Silver, McLeod and Jackson became friends back McLeod didn't work with Jacket until his film after The Frighteners (1996).
After marrying in the late 1990s, McLeod took a break from acting until hearing that Peter Jackson was to make another film that was in production since the mid-1990s.
The Lord of the RingsEdit
Upon hearing that Jackson was going to make a film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings, McLeod auditioned for the role of Rosie Cotton while she was six months pregnant with her daughter. Jackson allowed McLeod to audition and four months later, McLeod was contacted and she landed the role of Rosie Cotton. Since McLeod's daughter Maisy was born while The Lord of the Rings was in production, Jackson allowed McLeod's daughter to be within The Return of the King as she played Rosie and Sam's baby when she was twelve weeks old.
As of today, The Lord of the Rings is McLeod's most notable film out her acting career.
She currently lives in Auckland, New Zealand with her husband and two daughters.
