During The Hobbit, Bilbo Baggins and Gollum, while struggling for dominance against one another, entered into a Riddle Game. Bilbo unfairly won by asking Gollum what he had in his pocket. Gollum, of course, did not know, and frustratedly pardoned himself to his island home. Bilbo escaped by using the One Ring's invisibility power and soon rejoined the dwarves at the foot of the mountains.
