The Pinnath Gelin or Green Hills was a green and fertile hilled country in western Gondor between the western White Mountains and Anfalas.[1]

There were people who dwelt in the lower hills, but the area was sparsely populated.

Description

The climate hovered near the moderate and the extreme with mild winters and hot, dry summers and the terrain consisted of scattered woodlands on a hilly area.[2][3]

History

At the time of the War of the Ring, Hirluin the Fair was either a lord of that region of Gondor or apparently a figure of authority there. As Pinnath Gelin was a loyal province of Gondor, Hirluin came with some 300 well-armed men marched to the aid of Minas Tirith during the Battle of the Pelennor Fields. Hirluin was killed by Orcs during the ensuing battle.[4]
