Pass of Aglon

From the One Wiki to Rule Them All, the Lord of the Rings Encyclopedia.

The Pass of Aglon was connected to Lothlann and Himlad in the East Beleriand during the First Age.

[edit] History

In the years after the Return of the Ñoldor to Middle-earth, it was one of the dwelling places of Celegorm and Curufin up to FA 455 when it was overrun by the forces of Morgoth during the Dagor Bragollach. The area was destroyed along with the rest of the Beleriand at the end of the First Age following the War of Wrath.

[edit] Etymology

Aglon literally means "narrow path" in Elvish, but was actually taken to mean "pass between high walls" at the time.
