Otto Preminger—born 5 December 1906—was an Austrian-born film director and actor. He directed a number of novel-to-film and stage-to-film adaptations, some of which were controversial. He died on April 23, 1986, at the age of seventy-nine.

He did the voice of the Elvenking Thranduil in The Hobbit animated film.
