The Old Guesthouse was a large building made of grey stone that had become weathered with age. It consisted of two wings with a narrow greensward that stood between them and small house with many windows and pillared porch with a flight of steps leading down to a grass yard. Many children were to be found here usually playing around the pillars.
Pippin visited here after Beregond went on guard duty. It was here that he met Bergil, Beregond's son.
