Noirinan was a valley on the southern slopes of the mountain Meneltarma.

HistoryEdit

Within the rock of the mountain was a head chamber where the bygone Kings and Queens of Númenor were entombed. [1][2]

Here was located a spring from the Siril river where Aragorn first met Gandalf.[1]

EtymologyEdit

Noirinan was a Quenyan word that meant "Valley of the tombs". It came from the words noirë, meaning 'tomb', and nan, meaning 'valley'.[citation needed]
