Menelmacar was one of the constellations of stars set in the heavens of Arda by Varda.

Menelmacar was created by Varda just before the Awakening of the Elves as a symbol of light and hope. It also forebodes the Last Battle prophesized at the End of Days. It is most likely the constellation of Orion.[1][2]

The name Menelmacar means "Swordsman of the Sky",[3] or "Swordsman of the Heavens", from the Quenya menel ("heaven") and macar ("swordsman").[4]
