Meneldor was a Great Eagle who dwelt at the Eagles Eyrie, at the north half of the Misty Mountains.

He was a friend and follower of Gwaihir and probably dwelt with him on their eyrie in the Misty Mountains. He along with Gwaihir and Landroval was one of the Eagles who rescued Frodo and Sam from the slopes of Mount Doom (Orodruin), after the destruction of the Ring.[1]

The first element of his name, menel, means "heaven".[2]
