The Lord of Dale was the title of the ruler of the realm of City-state of Dale before its fall to Smaug in TA 2770.
Its only known holder was Girion who perished in the destruction of the city. Girion's noble descendent Bard did not renew the title instead being known as a 'King'.
The title was probably a hereditary one.
