Littleheart, whose birthname was Ilfrin, was an Elf of Tol Eressëa who is mentioned only in earlier versions of the Middle-earth legendarium.[1]

BiographyEdit

Ilfrin son of Bronweg was the "gong-warden" of a small host of Elves in Tol Eressëa - the title was in referral to the gong Tombo, which he had owned for much of his life. He served as a guide for a time to the Man of Eriol while he was on Tol Eressëa. At the Cottage of Lost Play, he once narrated the story of Tuor and the Fall and Exiles of Gondolin.

Littleheart was what he was called by Lindo and Vairë, the keepers of the Cottage.

It was once said by Gilfanon that this Elf was the only one still alive who had seen the Necklace of the Dwarves. [2]

Etymology Edit

Before Ilfrin was the final version of his birthname, this character's earlier names were Infiniol, ElfriniolElfriniel, IlfrithElfrith [3], and (in the earliest tales) Ilverin [4], which had replaced Elwenildo.[5]
