Lithlad was a great plain in Mordor, southeast of the plateau Gorgoroth. Long ages of continuous fallout from Mount Doom and possibly far older volcanoes enriched the area with great amounts of ash, which enhanced the ground making it ideal for dry-land farming.

History Edit

It is known that Númenóreans once had dominion over Lithlad during the Second Age, populated as a far off part of their empire. Being one of many remote locations they visited, many lost artifacts and ancient ruins remained there from their time.

Lithlad is a Sindarin word for 'ash-plain'.[1]
