Limlight

River Limlight at the northern border of Rohan (The Lord of the Rings Online).

The Limlight was a tributary of the River Anduin, which flowed eastwards from Fangorn forest, and emptied out into the Anduin in the North Undeep near the Brown Lands. It formed the northern border of Rohan.

It was approximately one-hundred fifty miles in length.[1]

History

Before the arrival of the Rohirrim when the area was a province of Gondor known as Calenardhon, the river Limlight was considered to be the northern border of the Kingdom of Gondor. Later, it was also the northern border of Rohan as well. It was also the southern border of the Field of Celebrant, which was near the Elven realm of Lothlórien.[2]

Later, during the Long Winter of the later Third Age, the river and much of the area was covered by a blanket of heavy snow.[3]

Other Names

Limlîht was the name in Elvish form.[citation needed]
