Geoffrey Bache Smith had forwarded Tolkien a letter from Barrovian Christopher Wiseman. After the demise of Robert Gilson, Wiseman pondered whether the T.C.B.S. still had any reason. Tolkien thought in this way, and went ahead to tell Smith concerning his thoughts of companionship. He had made a comment of the War: "is for all the evil of our own side with large view good against evil".
