Letter 26 is the twenty-sixth letter written by J.R.R. Tolkien and published in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien.


Summary[]

In response to a reader's criticism of one of C.S. Lewis' novels, Tolkien wrote a letter to Stanley Unwin. Tolkien gave many retorts to the critiques the reader had offered.[1]

Later on in the letter, he said the sequel to The Hobbit has progressed to its third chapter. Lastly, Tolkien critiqued the American edition of The Hobbit for not including a picture of Rivendell in its full glory.[1]
