Letter 115 is the one hundred and fifteenth letter written by J.R.R. Tolkien and published in The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien.

Summary[]

After expressing her interest in reading The Silmarillion, Tolkien thanked her and admitted that none, except C.S. Lewis and Christopher, wanted to read the "these things", and no one wanted to publish them. He spent time collecting readable materials for Katherine.

Tolkien listed three tales that were not up-to-date: The Fall of Gondolin, "The Lay of Beren and Lúthien" (verse), and The Children of Húrin. He was distressed for not finding the "Rings of Power", which, along the "Fall of Númenor", would like The Silmarillion and The Hobbit together. He promised to give her the manuscripts sometime that day.
