The Leaves of Lorien were brooches given by Galadriel to the members of the Fellowship of the Ring (with the notable exception of Gandalf , who was presumed at the time to be dead).
History
In The Lord of the Rings, Peregrin Took intentionally dropped his brooch while being carried by Uruk-hai as a signal to Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli that they were on the correct trail.
