Atomic bomb[]

This subject is far too tenuously linked to Tolkien's work to include here. The article goes into detail about how Tolkien disliked allegory and then offers up an entirely conjectural allegory as justification for the page existing. It should be deleted as not sufficiently relevant, or if necessary some of the material merged into a theory page. Gondorian2012 (talk) 21:55, 3 December 2023 (UTC)

I believe that the page should be merged into a theory page before discussing its potential deletion.Drour1234 (talk) 22:37, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
Do you have a suggested theory page so that it can be included on the LOTR:Articles to be merged page? Gondorian2012 (talk) 23:05, 3 December 2023 (UTC)
I actually thought that it could maybe be rewritten to be a One Ring/theories and interpretations page.Drour1234 (talk) 07:53, 4 December 2023 (UTC)
It is deleted. Someone may retrieve the text from the article-history and paste it into a blog if they like. HiddenVale - TalkPage 16:36, 11 March 2024 (UTC)

Once upon a Time[]

This should be deleted so that the page Once Upon A Time can move to this name because Once upon a Time is the actual name of the poem.Drour1234 (talk) 08:48, 24 December 2023 (UTC)

Eastern Eriador[]

I'm not sure this subject is sufficiently notable. Rhovanion and Eriador are clearly geographically separate lands and there is no specific mention as far as I know of 'Eastern Eriador' in Tolkien's writings. The Lone-lands page covers the area and is better founded in canon. Gondorian2012 (talk) 23:32, 27 June 2023 (UTC)

Eastern Eriador is mentioned on page 14 of The Lord of the Rings: A Reader's Companion. The exact quote is as follows:
"3 (I: 12). Wilderland - ‘Hobbit name for the lands beyond the Misty Mountains, [in] Elvish, i.e. Sindarin] Rhóvannion, but often used to include the wild lands on the west side of the range, that is Eastern Eriador’ (Index)."
The Lone-lands is an ambiguous term in that it may possibly be just another name for Eriador since Eriador's translation is Lonely Land.Drour1234 (talk) 00:25, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
Firstly that's a secondary source, secondly it's talking about a non-defined portion of a larger region. We don't have an entry for Western Gondor or Northern Rhovanion for example. But it might warrant a section on the main Eriador page. Gondorian2012 (talk) 01:17, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
While The Lord of the Rings: A Reader's Companion is a secondary source, the quote is from a primary source (The Unfinished index to The Lord of the Rings) referenced in the book. I disagree about Eastern Eriador being a section on the Eriador page since it was considered to be part of Rhovanion. The terms western Gondor and northern Rhovanion are not used because they are never capitalized by Tolkien.Drour1234 (talk) 01:42, 28 June 2023 (UTC)
Deleted. A single use of a capitalized term isn't sufficient to warrant a separate article when there is nothing unique about the subject. Bitterhand (talk) 18:36, 30 June 2023 (UTC)
Many of the terms that Tolkien used were single use terms, especially outside of TLOTR and TH. Eastern Eriador is unique because it is an area of Eriador that was part of Rhovannion.Drour1234 (talk) 20:02, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

Maori[]

Not especially relevant to this wiki? Gondorian2012 (talk) 23:29, 27 January 2023 (UTC)

Oggha and Snakha[]

Is one mention in a (very recent) tweet by Weta sufficiently canon to warrant their own pages? They should be shunted to the list of minor characters Gondorian2012 (talk) 22:40, 7 December 2022 (UTC)

Ford (disambiguation)[]

There's a category page for Fords, a disambiguation page is superfluous. Gondorian2012 (talk) 23:48, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Fairbairn family[]

Duplicates the Fairbairn page. Gondorian2012 (talk) 11:14, 7 November 2022 (UTC)

Gate[]

A gate's self-explanatory and there is a category page listing specific gates. Gondorian2012 (talk) 12:45, 8 June 2022 (UTC)

List of mountains[]

There's a category page for this list, it should either be deleted or turned into a redirect for that page. Gondorian2012 (talk) 13:43, 19 May 2022 (UTC)

Khandrim[]

Tolkien uses Variags for the people of Khand and I don't know of any reference in any medium referring to Khandrim. Unless somebody can cite a use this page should be deleted. Gondorian2012 (talk) 19:35, 29 May 2022 (UTC)

Inn[]

There's a category page for Inns and most of the page is generic descriptive information which can be found in a dictionary. Gondorian2012 (talk) 14:45, 13 March 2022 (UTC)

Siege (disambiguation)[]

There's a category page for this, a disambiguation page seems superfluous. Gondorian2012 (talk) 09:40, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

Deleted, per reasons given. Bitterhand (talk) 22:31, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

SA 3065[]

I can't find any source for Amandil becoming Lord of Andúnië in this year. It would also make him much too old to be a childhood friend of Ar-Pharazon. Gondorian2012 (talk) 01:39, 30 January 2022 (UTC)

Rivers (disambiguation)[]

There's a category page for this, not to mention an article on rivers as well. Given that there's nothing else other than actual rivers, the word is not something that's ambiguous, so doesn't need this page. Gondorian2012 (talk) 11:29, 28 January 2022 (UTC) Deleted. Surprised I'd never come across this page. HiddenVale - HV logo TalkPage 14:41, 28 January 2022 (UTC)
