The King's Writers were the royal scribes of Gondor. This entailed making the official records of Gondor, working directly with historically accurate sources.

The most widely known member, Findegil, worked under the Kingship of Aragorn ll in the Fourth Age. It is known that he composed at least one copy of the Red Book of Westmarch in Minas Tirith. In FO 172, he finished a copy of the Thain's Book. This copy was the only one to include Bilbo's Complete Translations from the Elvish, which Bilbo had composed while he was stationed at Rivendell for his retirement.[1]
