Hyarmendacil II was the twenty-fourth King of Gondor.
Hyarmendacil was the son of King Aldamir and reigned from TA 1540 until TA 1621. Born as Vinyarion, his father Aldamir was slain in a war with the Haradrim in TA 1540 and Vinyarion wished to avenge Aldamir's death. He accomplished this in TA 1551 by invading Harad and winning an astounding victory over the Haradrim and it was then when he proclaimed himself Hyarmendacil II, meaning in Sindarin "South-victor" after his famous ancestor from the twelfth century Third Age.
