The House of the Tower of Snow was one of the twelve houses of the Gondolindrim, in Gondolin in the First Age.
History[]
It was alongside the House of the Pillar the only house not to be given a detailed description in The Fall of Gondolin. It also shared a leader with the House of the Pillar; both houses being commanded by Penlod, tallest of the Ñoldor.
They did not seem an integral part of Gondolin's armies and are only mentioned in one area of the battle in the Fall of Gondolin, when after the death of Rog and his men, they defended a lane from a band of Orcs. They were outnumbered and Penlod was slain with his back to the wall and most Elves from both his houses fell with him.[1]
Penlod was a great scribe among the Eldar and of exceeding height. Whether or not the rest of the house of the Tower of Snow shared these characteristics is not mentioned. It is probable that their residence was the Tower of Snow itself.
