The Great Lake was a large lake located in Arda during the time of the Two Lamps.

It was located in the middle of Arda in Middle-earth between the two great lamp towers Helcar and Ringol. Amid it lay the Isle of Almaren,[1] where the Valar dwelt.[2]

The Valar created the Great Lake and the Isle of Almaren after Melkor was driven from Arda by Tulkas during the First War. They were destroyed along with the Two Lamps when Melkor returned from the outer darkness to bring ruin to the Valar's works and as a result of this, the Great Lake was scuttled and destroyed after Melkor threw down.[2]
