Gold chests are objects found in Sierra's The Hobbit game that contain goods, usable items, or items required to complete a specific level.
While they contain valuable treasure, gold chests are notorious for being more unforgiving to the player should the lock-picking process fails. This usually causes the player to be damaged, or in worse cases, poisoned. Also to not is that gold chests take longer to pick, rather than blue chests do. It is recommended to use skeleton keys if necessary (assuming you have some).
These chests are much less common in early levels. As the game progresses, they appear much more frequently in later levels.
