I have some questions on the article of Varda. It says that Tolien drew on Greek mythology. Is this accurate? I was under the impression that it was Germanic myths that he drew on. There are things like trolls, elves, dwarves, and the like, and some of the human cultures resemble Germanic peoples, particularly the Rohirrim.

I've also found far, far more similarities between Varda and Frigg rather than any goddess in Greek mythology. I have an explanation for it.

Both were queens of their respective pantheons. Both were viewed as good mothers, with Frigg being the goddess of motherhood and Varda being like a mother to the elves. Varda is queen and creator of the stars, and likewise Frigg was believed to be the goddess of the stars and wove the constellations on her spinning wheel. Frigg was considered to be a goddess of beauty, and in the same way Varda's true form was said to be too beautiful for words.
