Question! When Smeagol obtained the one ring from Deagol he became corrupted by its power and subsequently banished from his relations. My questions are why did Smeagol fall under the evil of the ring when Hobbits are good natured? Is it because of this evil that transformed his physical appearance, when Bilbo and Frodo when in possession of the ring do not age at all? Or is it because Smeagol decided to live in the darkness of the Misty Mountains that he changed? I am clearly reading too much into this but if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it!

My answer(Is this even how I should answer?) 1.Smeagol had the ring for a lot longer then Bilbo, so the effect was greater. 2. Hobbits age generally good-natured, yes, but bear in mind this. Smeagols group was slightly primitive. They did not have the intricate system of manners and kindness back then, and it seems Sméagol was a bit of a sly, 'un-nice' character anyway. 3.Gollum did not really age. His skin became 'tighter' as Bilbo begins to feel in LotR and the general lifestyle he took to under the mountain would have done nightmares to his body and metabolism.
