The Forgotten Villages were what the Hobbits referred to as their early settlements in Eriador that they inhabited after migrating from the upper Vales of Anduin but before settling farther west to what would later became the Shire.[1]
History
The communities were located in Eriador between the Misty Mountains, Bree-land, and Arnor. They were pleasant and well-ordered communities where the Fallohides, Harfoots, and Stoor Hobbit groups lived and intermingled with each other in peace. The Hobbits began leaving these settlements to begin settling in other places which were intended to be more permanent homes. The settlements seemed to exist in the years between TA 1150 and TA 1300. All complex details of the Forgotten Villages were lost to memory by Bilbo Baggins' time.[1][2]
