Angerthas Daeron on Balin's tomb in Moria.

Angerthas Daeron or Daeron's Runes were invented by King Thingol's minstrel and loremaster Daeron sometime during the First Age in Menegroth. By his own people, Angerthas Daeron were considered to be fairly simple, however, the Dwarves held Daeron to be a genius and adopted his invention of the Cirth and passed it down through the ages, most notably in Moria.

Etymology[]

Angerthas Daeron was Sindarin for Daeron's Runes.
