Gúthwinë was the sword that belonged to Éomer of Rohan.

It was borne by him at the Battle of the Hornburg, and presumably at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields and the Battle of the Black Gate.[1]

Etymology[]

In Old English, Gúthwinë means "Battle-friend".[2]

In The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, Gúthwinë is shown as having a fullered blade and both the guard and the pommel were of bronze. The guard was shaped like horses' heads, one on each side of the blade.

The sword slew many orcs in its time, especially Uruks of Isengard, and earned a strong reputation as a sword of Rohan.
