This page concerns the real world.

Elijah Jordan Wood (born January 28, 1981 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa) is an American actor of English, Austrian, German, and Danish descent. He is the middle of three children born to Warren and Debbie Wood, who nicknamed Elijah "Spark Plug" because he was a manically energetic child. He has a brother, Zack, a video game producer seven years his senior, as well as a younger sister by three years, Hannah, a poet and actor who has had small roles in a number of Wood's films.

A professional actor since the age of nine, Wood is best known for the role of Frodo Baggins in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy, which he briefly reprised in two of The Hobbit film trilogy.

Elijah Wood is the youngest member of The Lord of the Rings main cast. Interestingly, his character, Frodo, was chronologically the oldest of the four hobbits in the Fellowship. However, this irony could imply the One Ring's ability to arrest age as it did for Bilbo.

In May 2020, Elijah Wood appeared with Peter Jackson and much of the main cast of the films in a zoom reunion hosted by Josh Gad.
