Craig Parker (born November 12, 1970 in Suva, Fiji) is a New Zealand actor. He was based in the United Kingdom for some time until returning to New Zealand.

Involvement[]

He is most famous for his role as the Elf Haldir of Lórien in The Lord of the Rings film trilogy (2001 - 2003); he also voiced the Orcs Gothmog and Guritz in its third installment. Originally, he provided the voice for Frodo in the cartoon versions of the storyboards, before the shooting phases. It was not until the casting in the first movie for Haldir that Jackson chose Parker for the part.

Parker has entertained and met fans at various Lord of the Rings-related conventions for several years - for example, Ring*Con in Germany, which he has attended most years since its creation in 2002.

Quotes[]

  • "I think Galadriel's all a bit poncy, a bit overexcited with her status. We don't all need boats. She could have got the bus, used public transport or the subway." (Craig regarding a scene in Lothlórien)
