The Fastitocalon was a giant or perhaps mythical beast, and was the last of the great Turtle-fish in Middle-earth. The Fastitocalon was called in the Hobbitish poem of the same name. Fastitocalon is described to have been mistaken many times for an island by many sailors, who were soon drowned when he submerged into the sea. The story of this beast is said by some to be an allegory for the destruction of Numenor.
