Although a guard is portrayed originally in the book, the guard is not named; and so Elros is non-canonical.
Portrayal in adaptationsEdit
Peter Jackson's The HobbitEdit
Elros was the "Master of Keys," a dungeon guard in Thranduil's Elven stronghold in Mirkwood, and also the guard's leader. In The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, he appears in a scene in which Bilbo, using the Ring on his finger to hide himself, steals the dungeon cell keys from him Galion and Feren while they are drunk and asleep. A similar scene occurs in Tolkien's novel The Hobbit, but the guards are not named in the book.
