E.V. Gordon was a philologist and a friend of J.R.R. Tolkien. He worked together with Tolkien on many translations. He was born in February 14, 1896 and he deceased in January 1, 1938. After his death, Tolkien and Gordon's wife, Ida Pickles, finished his last work, Pearl.
