Dernhelm was the name Éowyn took when she was pretending to be a man in the army of Rohan, when the Rohirrim rode to Minas Tirith. Dernhelm means "hidden protector" in Old English1.

In adaptationsEdit

The name Dernhelm is not used in Peter Jackson's The Return of the King film due to Meriadoc Brandybuck recognizing her immediately after she lifts him onto her horse.
