The Dark Powers are an order of fallen Ainur founded by the Dark Lord, Morgoth Bauglir prior to the destruction of the Two Trees, Telperion and Laurelin, to rival the strength of the Valar. The number of Dark Powers changes during the first, second, and third ages of the Sun.
