Déorwine was a Man of Rohan of the late Third Age.
Biography
Déorwine was the Chief of the King's Riders during the War of the Ring. He was slain along with six of his knights at the Battle of the Pelennor Fields in Gondor. He was buried in the Mounds of Mundburg and memorialized in Song of the Mounds of Mundburg[1][2]
Etymology
The name Déorwine probably means "brave-friend" in Old English, consisting of dēor ("brave, bold (as a wild beast)" + wine ("friend").[citation needed]
