The Chase to Rivendell is a chase in the film The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey where Radagast attempts to lead the Hunter Orcs away while Gandalf leads Thorin and Company towards Rivendell. The event is non-canonical as it does not appear in the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.

History[]

In the year TA 2941, an Orc band led by Yazneg makes an attempt to kill the Dwarves, but they are distracted by Radagast and his Rhosgobel Rabbits who draw them away from the company. While Radagast continue to draw the Hunter Orcs away, the Company hides behind a rock until an Orc approaches and picks up on a scent. After Kíli shoots the Orc's warg, the Orc falls amongst the Dwarves and is killed by Dwalin and Bifur. Yazneg hears the Orc's cry, and orders the Orcs to go after the Dwarves. As the company hides inside a cave, the Hunter Orcs discover it, but are ambushed and slain by Elves led by Lord Elrond. Yazneg and Fimbul escape back to Weathertop Hill while Thorin and Company manage to reach Rivendell.

In the aftermath of the skirmish, Yazneg is killed by Azog for his failure.
