The Caves of the Forgotten was a possibly fictitious set of caves in Aman where Ar-Pharazôn and his great army from Númenor were allegedly said to be imprisoned.
History[]
After the king and his followers broke the Ban of the Valar by invading Aman in the Second Age, Ilúvatar caused the hills of the Calacirya to fall atop the army of Ar-Pharazôn, buying them all beneath the land. According to legend, it was believed that they were allegedly not dead, but rather imprisoned within the Caves of the Forgotten. They were said to remain here alive until the End of Arda, at which point they are prophesized to arise for the Last Battle, the Dagor Dagorath,[1] though it is untold whose side they would be on.
