Bret McKenzie (born 29th of June, 1976 in Wellington, New Zealand) is a comedian, actor, musician, and producer. He is probably best known for being one half of the comedy duo Flight of the Conchords.
Appearances in Tolkien-inspired moviesEdit
The Lord of the Rings TrilogyEdit
The Fellowship of the RingEdit
He plays one of the elves of Rivendell in the movies, during the Council of Elrond he is seen sitting two seats away. The shy elf became immensely popular, so popular that his fans made up a fan-name for the elf, Figwit. The name was made up by Tolkien fan Iris Hadad; after seeing Frodo agree to take the ring, saying "I will take it", the film switches to a shot where Figwit can be seen standing on the far right, and Hadad's initial reaction was "Frodo is grea...who is THAT?!?".
The Return of the KingEdit
Figwit was very popular, so popular that director Peter Jackson was persuaded to give him a minor role in the third movie as well. He appeared once again, in the scene where Arwen is leaving for the Grey Havens. Figwit appears while he is escorting a group of elves.
